Ten Tips for Goal-Setting
As I sorted through some old papers I came across a list of goals that I had written many years ago. I chuckled as I read the items written by a young wife embarking on a new journey in life. ‘Become a student of my husband.’‘Find one thing to be thankful for each day.’ ‘Have a quiet time 21 days in a row.’ Thankfully, many had been completed. Somehow I had managed to check them off, most likely because I had written them down. I’m not a fan of New Year’s resolutions, but I have found setting goals to be quite helpful and effective. They can steer you through the year and help you get to where you want to go.
As we stand upon the threshold of a fresh, brand new year, with our dreams in one hand and our experiences in the other, something has to harness all the ideas and plans whirling around in our heads. With so much to accomplish it can become overwhelming to figure out just where to start. It is important to “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” Proverbs 16:3
My life has been so full for the last few years that there are many areas crying out for my attention. Here are some things that I am finding helpful as I determine my goals. Maybe they will be of some help to you as well.
